Use Case “Bring Emma to kindergarten”
I can’t exactly recall how was this idea born. I just recall this – my wish was to write an Use Case as orthodox as possible to challenge my capability to deal with requirements in any situation. I defined couple of criteria:
- System may not be computer system
- I must be either a domain expert or a total outsider – someone who never ever was in touch with SuD
- Complex, controversial even politically unpleasant problematic
Funnily enough, use case that came up was exactly this – “Bring Emma to kindergarten”
Emma is my 3 years old daughter who, as all western children, attend kindergarten. This social event is highly complex, constantly changing and bearing a lot of emotion sometimes. I assumed that formalizing it will be great fun and even greater challenge.
So I have an idea what I want to do, have subject, methodology. Now, one thing to make it fully enjoyable is to bring conditions close to real life and to get company.
Well, I asked wife if she would join me in writing use case! To my great astonishment she responded interested, even enthusiastic. Voila, all the preconditions was met to start with this very interesting project I am planning to cover in this page and blog dedicated to “Bring Emma to kindergarten”
I have to note that at the moment I am quite under impression of this book: “Writing Effective Use Cases” by this guy: Alistair Cockburn and, as you might guess, willing to try techniques suggested by Mr Cockburn on this project.
enjoy
